February 14, 2023, Head Start staff, parents, and community supports joined Massachusetts Head Start Association for our annual Advocacy Day at the State House in Boston, MA. The Great Hall of Flags was filled with over 250 attendees, dressed in red, and ready to talk Head Start and the support needed to continue providing quality care and education to our most vulnerable population. The day was a success with Head Start programs and parents from around the state attending and legislators who took the time to meet with many of them. A special thanks goes out to the speakers, whom each deserve recognition for their contribution to this event. Our speaking event kicked off with MHSA’s Executive Director, Michelle Haimowitz, and included speakers Trish Nadeau, an Early Head Start teacher at PACE Head Start, and Anne Borges, a Head Start Parent. Legislators were introduced by their local Head Start programs and included Representative Paul Schmid, Speaker Ron Mariano, Chair Michael Rodrigues, Chair Aaron Michlewitz, and Senator John Keenan.
