Culturally Sustaining Leadership Development

Head Start and early education leaders have their plates more than full at the moment. Join Michele LaCoursiere and Lindsay Mangold for the MHSA conference track Culturally Sustaining Leadership Development to break down the roles of the leader and strengthen your leadership skills. Leaders, including program leaders, site leaders, and parent leaders, will explore some key leadership skills including conflict resolution, management, and supervision, and practice those skills with their peers.

Lindsay Mangold

Children’s Literacy Initiative

Lindsay Mangold is a current leader coach and Partnership and Implementation Manager committed to the mission of Children’s Literacy Initiative and the leaders, teachers, and children we empower. Her passion for literacy developed in her graduate program and Reading Specialist certification courses, allowing her to utilize these skills to create a dynamic, research-based, joyful opportunities for her Black and LatinX students of all ages. Lindsay brings deep literacy knowledge and coaching abilities into her partnerships to rebuild the structures and systems to lead and identify affirmation, connection across difference, and energetic curiosity.

Michele LaCoursiere-Ferrer

Children’s Literacy Initiative

Michele LaCoursiere-Ferrer has over 20 years of experience in leadership, project implementation, and school service delivery. She served Black and LatinX communities as a teacher, reading specialist, student services advocate, and school and organizational leader. Her adaptability, data-driven decision making, and demonstrated ability to build the capacity of diverse teams with exceptional results enables her to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
