Boston, M.A. – October 17, 2023, Massachusetts Head Start Association Executive Director Michelle Haimowitz provided written testimony to the Joint Committee on Education in support of H.489 and S.301, known as the Common Start bill. MHSA believes the Common Start bill will increase access to high-quality care for more families and provide providers with stability and consistency in their funding. In addition to the bill, MHSA supports findings of the Special Legislative Early Education and Care Economic Review Commission, releasing its final report March of 2022. MHSA is thankful to the committee for the opportunity to testify in support of the bill, and their work to support the vulnerable young children, families, and the programs that serve them here in Massachusetts.
